Funding available: Second round of Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP-2)

On September 17, the USDA announced a second round of funding available under the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFPA 2). If you missed the application deadline or were ineligible for CFAP 1, the second round of CFAP includes expanding eligibility criteria and is open for applications until December 11, 2020.

Coronavirus Food Assistance Program 2 will provide producers with financial assistance that gives them the ability to absorb some of the increased marketing costs associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Some of the changes to CFAP:

  • An additional round of price loss based payments for commodity crops covered under CFAP-1
  • A new fixed $15/acre payment for many grain, oilseed, and hemp crops that were not previously eligible
  • Revenue based payment program for specialty crop and other producers that greatly expands eligibility to include nearly all crops and many types of livestock
